The Collection of Historical/Cultural Resources on State Lands and Resource Impacts

April 11, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Implications of legal and illegal activity on submerged and upland environments. The training focusses on how to identify the three historical resources found on state lands (artifacts, fossils, deadhead logs); how they are each defined by the state; differentiating private lands and waterways from state uplands or sovereign submerged lands; and the proper authorizations required for “legal” collecting of any of the three. Also, the training teaches land managers how to define and assess resource impacts. Authentic artifacts and fossils will be passed around during the course – deadhead log pieces will be on display as well. There will be an optional trip to the Orman House after the workshop.
