Reserve Wednesday: Taking the Temperature of Sea Turtle Nests

April 15 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Temperature sensors in sea turtle nest

Megan Lamb from the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve is ‘eggsamining’ the temperatures in sea turtle nests. Sea turtles eggs are very sensitive to thermal changes – temperatures during incubation have an impact on the ratio of female and male hatchlings that develop in a nest. Come to the Reserve’s Nature Center to hear about a research project that looks into finding out what’s going on under the sand.
