
The Collection of Historical and Cultural Resources on State Lands

Join the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) training on the Collection of Historical and Cultural Resources on State Lands. Attendance is free and open to law enforcement and state and local government agencies only. Instruction will be provided on the rules and regulations surrounding historical resources found on sovereign submerged lands and the proper authorizations required for their collection. Additionally, vertebrate fossils, artifacts and deadhead log specimens will be presented in this hands-on training. Register by Dec. 12, 2025 to reserve a seat in this course.
*This training is not a substitute for Division of Historical Resource’s Archeological Resource Management training.
The training will be broken up in two portions: classroom instruction in the morning and an off-site historical and archeology tour in the afternoon. The lunch break is scheduled between 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. EDT.
Additional tour information and location will be provided following updated weather forecasts. While participation in the afternoon session is not required, it is a valuable opportunity to observe land management strategies in relation to this resources. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Hat, insect repellent, water and sunscreen are recommended.
