SUMMARY:Oyster Ecology
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the role oysters play in the health of Apalachicola Bay. Discover what makes the bay so ideal for growing oysters\, what gives our oysters their distinct flavor\, and how oyster bars benefit the ecosystem. We will also look at what possibly made the oysters collapse and what is being done to restore them to Apalachicola Bay. After spending some time in the classroom\, participants will get the chance look at its these creatures under a microscope. This class is full of opportunities to learn more about the animals that live in our bay and along the tidal flats. \nRegistration is free but required.\nhttps://AnerrOysters2024.eventbrite.com

SUMMARY:Sci-Cafe: Hwy 98 Shoreline Restoration Project Update
DESCRIPTION:Have you been wondering what those rocks are along Hwy 98 between Eastpoint and Carrabelle? Join us for this month’s Sci-Cafe to take a deeper dive into the Franklin 98 restoration project. Rick Harter will discuss the Franklin-98 Living Shoreline Project uses an innovative design that is intended to maximize habitat value and shoreline stabilization\, while striving to achieve a “natural” appearance while Josh Adams with the ARPC will provide an update on the NFWF/FDEP funded project\, Franklin-98 Restoration Project. This project is ongoing\, with the goal of increasing ecological function and reducing erosion along the south side of Highway-98\, in Franklin County. The Forgotten Coast Conservation Corps will also join to discuss how they are helping with the project and future plans.\nPlease register here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4580757192818166103
