SUMMARY:Sci-Café: Status Update on 2017 Oyster Reef Restoration
DESCRIPTION:The Apalachicola Aquatic Preserve Manager will discuss the results of the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council (GCERC) Apalachicola Bay Oyster Reef Restoration Project. Approximately 95\,500 cubic yards of a lime rock aggregate were placed on an estimated 317 acres of debilitated oyster reefs in the Apalachicola Bay during October 2017. The Aquatic Preserve staff has been monitoring the progress of these restoration efforts and will present their monitoring data. The methods and data from this project have been extremely useful in planning future restoration efforts in Apalachicola Bay\, specifically site selection and appropriate cultch material.
